There's also this weird, flirty, non-sensical romance thing going on between her and this guy called Ramon. It becomes pretty clear early on that Stella is the main character, she's the shy, nerdy, smarty-pants of the group that figures shit out. Gabriel Rush (Auggie) and Austin Zajur (Chuck) were okay additions to the cast, their acting wasn't great. The rest of the cast wasn't as bad but really not amazing either. Especially Stella - Zoe Colletti - her acting felt sooooooo forced so, so often, it was way too dramatic and over the top and frankly got irritating very fast. Other than that, I just wasn't really wowed by anything in particular. It's mostly stuff that's gross to look at, like spiders coming out of a girl's pimple on her cheek, some weird fat old lady. These usually contain some sort of monster or gruesome event that the characters will suffer from. The plot - Stella takes the witch's book (not sure why she does that in the first place) and naturally shit goes south real fast, she sees that stories are being written about the people who most recently went in the house, and they happen to disappear soon after. Okay there were like one or two scenes that tensed me up, some icky bits here and there but that was it.
RAMON SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK CAST MOVIE
A lot of this movie is just cliché or forced acting (more so in Stella's case, her acting is just not good imo), the plot is frankly okay and there's nothing remotely scary about it either. Now that I'm writing this, kinda gives me a Monster House vibe, sorta.Īnyway so the premise is cool and I was pretty interested to see how it would play out.

This witch, Sarah Bellows, writes horrific stories in her book about people who go in her house. This film follows a group of kids - Auggie, Chuck, Stella and Ramon - who go into a spooky haunted house to hide from bullies and end up awakening some whacky witch. This is based off of children's book series, I haven't read those but I really hope they're better than the film lol. Ended up picking this film, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, on Netflix and while it wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen, it really wasn't that great either. Right so since it's Halloween season, I'm craving some fun scary movies that'll tense me up, make me bite my nails, make me jump, that type of stuff.
